Be the Light
A Sacred Rebellion for Dark Times
I’ve been feeling a bit depressed lately, more depressed than I expected to feel since nothing in the news is unexpected. I knew the horrors were coming. I have understood the implications of this particular administration from day one. But up until about a month ago, the implications were abstractions. Then sh*t got real and I got scared, overwhelmed, and quite depressed. Thankfully, a dear friend reminded me that “we can’t let them scare us.”
That’s when I realized it was time to develop some sort of internal armor, some inspirational guidelines for myself. After all, this isn’t a new story. Authoritarianism is as old as patriarchy, which is really, really old. Remembering this, I decided to revisit three of my heroes and what they had to say about the challenges of their own times.
Mahatma Gandhi once said, “I shall not fear anyone on Earth. I shall not bear ill will toward anyone. I shall not submit to injustice from anyone. I shall conquer untruth by truth…My life is my message.”
Likewise, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. once said, “Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate, only love can do that.”
And of course Victor Frankl once said, “Everything can be taken from us but one thing, the last of the human freedoms: the freedom to choose one’s attitude in any given set of circumstances, to choose one’s own way.”
All three wrote extensively and eloquently about their struggles and I am committed to reading and rereading their writings. I have also composed my own commitment to this time, to what I’m calling “my duty to sacred rebellion.” Use what resonates and then create your own guidelines. I hope something here will be helpful. Spread the love. Be the light.

The Light is infinite and indestructible, whereas darkness is the temporary consequence of closing our eyes. Astrophysicists have proven that there is no such thing as darkness, only the frequencies of Light our eyes are unable to register. Stay connected to the Light, both within you and around you. Choose to BE the Light.
Every moment of every day, we get the chance to be alchemists, to transform cruelty into compassion, fear into love, darkness into light, and despair into hope—which is an expression of our radical, indomitable, and boundless creativity.
As they demand our silence, we raise our voice.
As they attempt to deceive us, we speak our truth.
As they attempt scare us, love makes us brave.
This long-predicted “Shift of the Ages” is calling all of us to make the choice between love and fear—and then keep choosing it, choosing the kind of world we want to live in. Do we choose fear, darkness, despair, and limitation—or love, light, hope, and infinite creative possibility?
The fact that we are alive at this moment means that our souls chose to incarnate at this time—to be creators, alchemists, and warriors of the Light. As we remember this, we reclaim the Light inside of us and become the Lightworkers we were born to be.
Every time we choose love over fear, the Light gets stronger.
The Light inside of us is brighter than the sun.
Only love prevails.

Oh my dear Elizabeth! You’ve done it again — a perfect commentary/reflection on our times and circumstances! Indeed WE ARE SPIRITUAL BEINGS having this human experience to live and learn from and NEVER STOP shining our own lights which is who we are ESSENTIALLY! Thank you so much for this eloquent reminder of our essence and purpose in this life! 💜❤️💜❤️😘
“Every time we choose love over fear, the Light gets stronger.” ❤️
